Song of the Week: To Be With You, David Archuleta

I've been alone so many nights now,
And I've been waitin' for the stars to fall.
I keep holdin' out for what I don't know
To be with you, just to be with you.

So here I am staring at the moon tonight,
Wondering how you look in this light.
Maybe you're somewhere thinkin' about me too.
To be with you, there's nothing I wouldn't do.

And I can't imagine two worlds spinnin' apart
Come together eventually..

And when we finally meet, I'll know it's right.
I'll be at the end of my restless road.
But this journey, it was worth the fight.
To be with you, just to be...

Holding you for the very first time, never letting go.
What I wouldn't give to feel that way...
Ooohh...

Oh, to be with you...

Oh, and I can't imagine two worlds spinnin' apart
Come together eventually.

And when you're standin' here in front of me,
That's when I know that God does exist.
'Cause He will have answered every single prayer.
To be with you, just to be with you, yeah.
You....

Song of the Week: Get Higher, Matt Nathanson

I miss the sound of your voice
And I miss the rush of your skin
And I miss the still of the silence
As you breathe out and I breathe in

If I could walk on water
If I could tell you what's next
make you believe
make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love

I miss the sound of your voice
The loudest thing in my head
And I ache to remember
All the violent, sweet
Perfect words that you said

If I could walk on water
If I could tell you what's next
make you believe
make you forget

Come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love

I miss the pull of your heart
I taste the sparks on your tongue
I see angels and devils
And God, when you come on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Sing sha la la la
Sing sha la la la la

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me in love
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire and the swing of your hips
Just pull me down hard
And drown me, drown me in love

So wrong, so wrong,
so right
So come on, get higher
Come on, get higher
'Cause everything works, love
Everything works in your arms

Love Is In The House

For Christmas I got a live concert Toby Mac CD. This was really interesting so I thought I'd share it! It's all based off of 1 John 1:5-7.

“Now this is the message that we have heard from him and proclaim to you: God is the light and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say, “We have fellowship with him,” while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin.” ~1 John 5-7

(The “idea” Toby shared with those at the concert...)

“No matter what color our skin, no matter what denomination, no matter what cultural background, no matter what social economic level we live in...we all have fellowship in one another and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son who cleanses us from all sin.
It's not our words. They aren't going to be what stops the world in its tracks. Our words will not change the world. They've heard it all.
It's not normally our music. We make music for us to sharpen the body, glorify our God. One and a while someone will crossover, but it's not typically the music that will stop people in their tracks. Our music won't change the world, more than likely.
It's not our buildings as beautiful and grand as some of our church buildings are – it's not the architecture that's gonna chance the world.
But I believe what's going to change the world is when we begin to love each other, when we begin to love the world, and when we begin to reach out to the orphans and widows and the lower income families in our communities. When the world begins to see that kind of love – undeniable love, I believe they will stop in their tracks and say,

'YO! Whatever you people have over there, I want somma'dat, BABY! I want somma'dat right there for me, baby!'

When our houses are packed so full of love that we gotta open up the back door to let it ooze out into the valleys, suburbs, and city streets. When the world sees that kind of love – REAL love, they're gonna stop in their tracks. They're gonna say,

'YO! Homie! Whateva you people have ov'a there, you Jesus Freaks! I WANT SUMMA'DAT JESUS, MAN! If it's doin' alla' 'dat!'” -Toby Mac

All this was followed by his song Love Is In the House...

Why Boys Like Girls

This is a super cute thing I came across in one of my files...I have too many!! lol I love this and agree with most of it...of course there ARE exceptions, but...that's ok...it's still cute!! :) So, here it is...

Why Boys Like Girls:

1. They will always smell good even if its just shampoo

2. The way their heads always find the right spot on our shoulder

3. How cute they look when they sleep

4. The ease in which they fit into our arms

5. The way they kiss you and all of a sudden everything is right in the world

6. How cute they are when they eat

7. The way they take hours to get dressed but in the end it makes it all worth while

8. Because they are always warm even when its minus 30 outside

9. The way they look good no matter what they wear

10. The way they fish for compliments even though you both know that you think she's the most beautiful thing on this earth

11. How cute they are when they argue

12. The way her hand always finds yours

13. The way they smile

14. The way you feel when you see their name on the call ID after you just had a big fight

15. The way she says "lets not fight anymore" even though you know that an hour later....

16. The way they kiss when you do something nice for them

17. The way they kiss you when you say "I love you"

18. Actually ... just the way they kiss you...

19. The way they fall into your arms when they cry

20. Then the way they apologize for crying over something that silly

21. The way they hit you and expect it to hurt

22. Then the way they apologize when it does hurt. (even though we don't admit it)!

23. The way they say "I miss you"

24. The way you miss them

25. The way their tears make you want to change the world so that it doesn't hurt her anymore..... Yet regardless if you love them, hate them, wish they would die or know that you would die without them ... it matters not. Because once in your life, whatever they were to the world they become everything to you. When you look them in the eyes, traveling to the depths of their souls and you say a million things without trace of a sound, you know that your own life is inevitable consumed within the rhythmic beatings of her very heart. We love them for a million reasons, No paper would do it justice. It is a thing not of the mind but of the heart. A feeling. Only felt.

The Search for a Godly Spouse

Oh my goodness! It's been a long time since I've blogged! WOW! :)

Well, the past two mornings I listened to a radio broadcast called The Search for a Godly Spouse. It's really entertaining to listen to because the speaker is Irish. :) The gist of the talk is pretty much summed up into the title-- The Search for a Godly Spouse (That's the 3rd time I've typed that...I should stop...lol). :)

The speaker, Alistair Begg, gave the 6 most important qualities to look for in a future spouse and he divided them up for both male and female. I thought it was really interesting...take a look. :)

Women: The man you someday marry should…

  • Be continually growing closer to Jesus Christ
  • Demonstrate integrity
  • Be a bold leader
  • Love sacrificially
  • Laugh heartily, especially at himself
  • Model genuine humility

Men: The woman you someday marry should…

  • Have a personal faith in Jesus Christ
  • Possess inner beauty, not just outer
  • Be an initiative taker and have an attitude of submission
  • Be a wife who will help build her husband's confidence
  • Display kindness
  • Have a sense of humor
There were some other really valuable points that he mentioned. I would strongly encourage you to listen to these broadcasts. They aren't very long and they're pretty entertaining!! :) Here's the link: http://listen.family.org/daily/A000001775.cfm
They were aired on 2/9 and 2/10.

ENJOY!

Look Into The Future

Wow...How weird it is to think that 2008 is over! It seems like it was just yesterday that I was getting ready for my 16th birthday now it's long gone! So much has changed this year! (I sound like an 85 year old man...disturbing...) Thinking about last year this time I had so many obstacles in my view: turning 16, being a sophomore, getting my license, starting/taking over a music business that has a HUGE legacy that accompanies it...and the list just keeps going! Some things were easier to handle than others, but it's been a good ride, baby! :)

"I've got my left foot down on my accelerator and my rear view mirror torn off 'cause I ain't never lookin' back. That's a fact." (Like the driving metaphor?! Guess the driving thing is more a part of me than I know...lol) :) And I'm not really "never looking back" because 2008 was a good year. I can't wait for 2009 to play out! The freedom I've gotten this year has been MUCH needed! I'm lovin' it! (haha MEG!) I'm gonna see what I know so far about 2009...month by month...

Replaced

I played the games
when all was good.
I wanted you and
gave all I could.

You didn't want to
break my heart,
but things are different
now that we're apart.

I feel forgotten
and washed away.
Forever a memory
is what I will stay.

Now you don't care
and I know why.
You refuse to tell me
all you do is lie.

I know it's over--
there's no need to chase.
It's clear someone else has
taken my place.
